One of my favorite, and best, flowers to use during spring is the Pink Ranunculus. They bloom beautifully during this season. With Mother’s Day happening this month, I wanted to bring some home. Plus, a flower arrangement with these flowers would be perfect for a springtime birthday party, bridal shower, or as a gift!
For this floral arrangement, I wanted to bring the outside in — a design so natural, it's like the vase itself grew out of the garden with the flowers already in it.
We begin with the Mānuka Myrtle (also known as the New Zealand tea tree). Mānuka is a Māori word from New Zealand, and these elegant evergreen shrubs originate from that part of the world. The leaves are prickly. However, you can see how light and airy they look in the photos. Small, ruffly white and pink blooms dot the twigs like splashes of paint.
It’s time to use the Pink Ranunculus. Is it just me, or do they also remind you of the movie Pretty in Pink?
Pink Ranunculus are gorgeous cup-shaped blooms that unfurl into layers upon layers of paper-thin petals. With their natural ruffles, Ranunculus are a top heavy flower, causing their tall stems to naturally bend. Some floral designers might want to wire the stems to keep them standing upright. But not us, not today. We want an organic look for this flower design, revealing movement and beauty through natural curves and curls.
Orlaya and Rice Flowers are up next. Their small, but clustered blooms help add texture and depth to our design. I love working with them. Both are just lovely fillers to use in any elegant flower arrangement or bouquet.
And there we have it — simply styled flowers in a garden-inspired arrangement. I hope you love all the pinkish hues this design plays with.
